Business Development and Outreach Services

Helping Virginia Small Businesses Start Strong, Grow Confidently, and Thrive

Whether you’re launching your very first business or preparing for your next stage of growth, the Business Development and Outreach Services (BDOS) Division is here to help. As SBSD’s primary resource for small business education and support, our mission is simple: to give Virginia entrepreneurs the knowledge, tools, and guidance they need to build stronger, more resilient businesses.

Each year, BDOS offers hundreds of free webinars, workshops, and networking events covering topics that matter most to small business owners, from marketing and finance to government contracting and business strategy. We also provide one-on-one business counseling through experienced Business Service Managers located throughout the Commonwealth, giving entrepreneurs access to personalized guidance close to home.

BDOS is also home to Business One Stop, Virginia’s comprehensive online resource for entrepreneurs. Whether you’re starting a business, navigating state requirements, exploring funding opportunities, or planning for long-term growth, Business One Stop brings together practical guidance, helpful resources, and connections to the agencies and programs that can help you succeed.
